The Language And Translation Of The Bible?

The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and the New Testament was written in Greek. Over the years many translations have been made of the Bible, some good but many are not good. Before the Reformation many scholarly men were put to death for translating the Scriptures into the English language.

In the sixteenth century, William Tyndale translated several books of the Old Testament but unfortunately, at that time, England was dominated by the Roman Catholic church and Tyndale was burned at the stake by the Roman Catholic Emperor, Charles V. In 1553 Mary Tudor, the Roman Catholic queen, commonly known as “Bloody Mary” came to the throne and sentenced many non-Catholics to be burned at the stake for their role in Bible translations.

Finally, England broke the power of the Roman Catholics and announced that they wanted neither papist nor foreigner for a king. It must have been through the providence of God that brought a man like King James to the throne in the early seventeenth century; for upon his instructions forty‑seven of the most learned men of England were given the tasks of translating the Hebrew and Greek manuscripts into the English language.

Printing was slow in that age, for it took approximately nine months to print the first Bible but it was completed and ready for the public it 1611. Over the years, since then, many words in the original translation have changed their meaning, so in the early 1970’s a decision by many Biblical scholars was made to “update” this translation which would delete many of the old outdated words and replace them with words found in our every day language such as replacing “ye”, “thy” and “thee” with “you”.

In 1901, the American Standard Version was made available. These three versions, the King James, the New King James and the American Standard Version are the only versions that reflect the actual Hebrew and Greek languages of the Bible. All other versions are “perversions” of the Scriptures and reflect the doctrines of their translators. The New International Version mistranslates Psalms 51:5 to teach the false theory of total depravity.

It changes “flesh” in Romans 8 to “sinful nature” teaching the false theory of original sin. It denies the deity of Christ by removing “begotten” from every text referring to Christ. It has Peter teaching that

baptism is “…the pledge of a good conscience towards God…” (I Peter 3:21). It teaches the Calvinistic view that the Holy Spirit opens our minds to understand the Scriptures (I Cor. 2:12-13). It changes I Corinthians 1:6 from “the testimony of Christ” (the gospel) to “ our testimony about Christ.”

These, and many, many other errors which are taught by Oral Roberts, Rex Humbard and the Nazarene church as these people had representatives serving on the translating committees. Beware of the NIV, it will lead you away from God’s Word rather than to it.
