Where In The Bible Will I Find:
There Would Be Another
Testament?
An often run television advertisement shows the
Bible, then proceeds to say, "There is another testament of Jesus
Christ." Joseph Smith said he translated gold plates he had found. The
result was The Book of Mormon. Smith
taught that Christ did not give ALL
man needed to know when be gave His "first" testament. Mormons argue
that Jesus gave "another" testament specifically for a nation of
people here in the United States. Is there really another testament?
The ONLY answer lies in the "first"
testament of Jesus Christ which will tell
us if there was ever to be "another." Jesus spoke with complete
authority for the Godhead (Matt. 28:18, ASV). God spoke last to man through His
Son, Jesus (Heb. 1:1-2). We will be judged only by the words of Jesus, "He
that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my
words, hath one that judgeth him: the
word that I have spoken, the same shall
judge him in the last day" (John 12:48).
Jesus empowered His apostles to speak for Him
through the Holy Spirit (John 12:25-26). Holy Spirit inspiration is
really the words of Christ (John 16:13-14). The words of these apostles
became scripture (II Peter 3:15-16).
Here Peter speaks of Paul's writings (epistles) and tells us they are scripture.
When instituting the Lord's Supper Jesus said His blood would establish the New
Testament, "...this is my blood of the new testament..."
(Matt. 26:28). This "first" testament of Jesus is called the New
Testament.
The above verses prove that Jesus gave His
"first" testament through His inspired writers. What does the
"first" testament say about the need for "another?" It says
that Jesus came to save ALL NATIONS (races) of people, both Jew and Gentile. He
gave only ONE gospel for ALL, "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for
a witness unto all nations..." (Matt. 24:14). This ONE gospel was to be preached to all nations, "Go ... teach all nations..."
(Matt. 28:19-20),
Mark said, "Go into ALL the world,..."
(Mark 16:15). ALL peoples of the world were
to be taught the same thing; namely, that which is taught in the New Testament.
This "first" testament of Jesus teaches that IT is all sufficient for every man (II Tim. 3:16-17). Peter
said God has "...given unto us ALL
THINGS that pertain unto life and godliness..." (II Peter 1:3). The "first" testament of Jesus
is ALL SUFFICIENT for ALL NATIONS of ALL AGES. Therefore, Joseph Smith lied
when he said God gave him a "second testament of Jesus Christ."
