Where In The Bible
Will I Find:
Any Divine
Authority For Human Creeds?
There are two different views on church authority. Some
people look to a creed book, whether it be the Book of Mormons, Key to the
Scriptures. Catechism, Discipline, Articles of Faith, or others, for their
guide in work and worship. They look with pride on the hierarchy or vested
clergymen that meet in councils and conclaves to produce their creed books and
revise it. But all these are diametrically opposed to what God has set forth in
the Bible.
Paul's instructions were "that ye might learn in us
not to think of men above that which is written" (I Cor. 4:6). Those
who hold to such books are "teaching for doctrines the commandments of
men” (Matt. 15:9). Paul warns against this. "For the time will come
when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they
heap to themselves teachers, having itching cars; and they shall turn away
their ears from the truth, and shall be turned to fables" (II Tim. 4:3-4).
John also says, "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth
not in the, doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrines
hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not
this doctrine receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed, for
he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds" (II John
9-11).
Believing, accepting and obeying the "BIBLE ONLY"
will take away all this confusion and strife; for we are not divided on what the
Bible says, but on what men have added to, or taken away from the teaching of
God's Holy Word (Deut. 4:2; Prov. 30:6; Rev. 22:18-19).
Paul writes, "I marvel that ye are so soon removed
from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: which is
not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel
of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto
you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed"
(Gal. 1:6-8).
God's Word is complete, authoritative and final. We beg and
plead with you that are following the creeds and dogmas of men to leave these
false doctrines and return to the Bible for it is the only Book that contains
the Word in which we will be judged (John 12:48).
