Where In The Bible Will I
Find:
Lost Souls In A Place Of
Eternal Punishment?
There
is a false doctrine that teaches against any idea of eternal punishment. They
like to cite the fact that God is love, as if that is all that is revealed of
the nature of God and then they will contend that a loving God will not send
anyone to a place of eternal punishment. "God is Love" (I John
4:8), but there is another side of God, "For our God is a consuming
fire" (Heb. 12:29).
There
are far more revealed of God's punishment and vengeance than all His rewards of
mercy and kindness. Jesus taught about the torture of hell, "The Son of
man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all
things that offend, and them which do iniquity, And shall cast them into a
furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth” (Matt. 13:41-42).
He
gave us a picture of hell for He wanted us to prepare ourselves that we may
shun that place of torment. His words to those who have NOT prepared
themselves, are, "Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire,
prepared for the devil and his angels .... And these shall go away into
everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal" (Matt.
25:41-46).
Everlasting
punishment and life eternal are of the same duration, there is no end. Those
who have been baptized into Christ (Gal. 3:27), will be with the Father, Son,
Holy Spirit, and all the redeemed in heaven, enjoying all the pleasures for
life eternal, while those who have refused the gospel plan of salvation will
suffer everlasting punishment in a burning hell of fire and brimstone, "Where
their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched" (Mark 9:44-48).
Peter
asks the question, "....what shall the end be of them that obey not the
gospel of God?” (I Peter 4:17). Paul answers that question, "And to
you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from
heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that
know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall
be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and
from the glory of his power" (II Thess. 1:7-9). These are lost,
doomed, tormented souls, who cry for relief in vain, for they will not be
heard.
There
will be NO second chance. They will regret their refusal to obey the gospel,
but too late, too late, too late. YOU are still alive and have time to obey,
for, "...behold, now is the accepted time, behold, now is the day of
salvation" (II Cor. 6:2). "How shall we escape, if we neglect
so great salvation” (Heb. 2:3). For
those who neglect our Lord's great gospel plan of salvation, THERE IS NO ESCAPE
(Luke 16:26).
