Where
In The Bible Will I Find:
That
Heaven Will Be Here On Earth?
The apostle Peter wrote, "But the day of
the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in the which the heavens shall melt
with a fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be
burned up. Looking for and hastening unto the coming of the day of God, wherein
the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved…We, according to his promise, look
for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness" (II
Peter 3:10-14).
Some may dream of a life on this earth after the
fervent heat dissolves all the elements of this world; but God has painted no
such picture. John says, "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for
the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more
sea" (Rev. 21:1). The heavens and earth as we know down here will be
dissolved, burned up, and forever obliterated! With them also will vanish all
trials and tribulations! Gone forever will be the tears and frustrations of our
earthly sojourn; "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes;
and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall
there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away” (Rev. 21:4).
Forgotten in the distant past will be the hurt,
pain, toil, sweat and tears that blighted our life on this earth! We will have
a new home -- "a building of God, an house not made with
hands, eternal in the heavens" (II Cor. 5:1). Heaven cannot be here on
this earth; for this earth will not be here after Christ comes to deliver up
His kingdom to His Father (I Cor. 15:24).
This earth will be burned up and everything in
it. Heaven is where Jesus said He was going "...to build a place for
us" (John 14:2, 3). Friends, refuse the false doctrine of an
"earthly kingdom, or heaven on this earth." Teachings like that comes
not from God, but from man. Accept God's plan of salvation, believe it and obey
it and you will be with God eternally in the heavens - where God is.
