Where
In The Bible Will I Find:
Jesus
Saying, "I Am Interested In You?"
Though
these exact words cannot be found falling from the lips of our Lord, we know
He has in essence said them many times! So many are the heavy burdens we
bear in this life, the greatest of all being the burden of the death of our
loved ones, illness and pain, sin and its consequences, yet many think they
must bear all their trials alone!
The
Lord shows His great interest in all when He invites us to cast our care
upon Him: "For he careth for you" (I Pet. 5:7). The first
century disciples had the same questions we often have today, about whether
the Lord was interested in them. They asked when their ship was washed by
the waves of the storm, "Master, carest thou not that we
perish?" (Mk. 4:36-41). They were quickly reassured that He did!
Christians
sing around the world today the beautiful song, "Does Jesus Care?"
The answer in the chorus says, "O yes, He cares, I know He cares, His
heart is touched with my grief…When the days are weary, The long nights
dreary, I know my Saviour cares." The Lord's interest in our every day
affairs, is evident in that He knows even when the sparrow falls, the number
of hairs on our head, and sends the rain and sunshine on the just and the
unjust (Matt. 10:28-31; 5:45).
Many
accept these blessings daily, but seem to "conveniently forget"
from whence they come (Rom. 1: 20-21). These act as if God is not there to
help with their burdens! In so far as salvation from sin is concerned, our
Lord has shown His interest in the souls of men with the greatest sacrifice
ever offered (Rom. 5:8). His interest is shown in that He has extended the
greatest invitation ever known to man, "Come unto me, all ye that
labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you,
and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest
unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light"
(Matt. 11:28-30).
His
interest is seen when He said, "Behold I stand at the door, and
knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him,
and will sup with him, and he with me" (Rev. 3:20). The door of
your heart will not be forced open, but He is able, willing, and ready to
enter when we open it to Him!
His
plan for our salvation is in hearing of His great love and interest,
believing in Him with all of our heart, repenting of our past failures and
sin, confessing our faith in Him, and going to the grave with him by being
buried in water for the remission of our sins (Rom. 10:17; Jn. 8:24; Lk.
13:3, 5; Matt. 10:32-33; Rom. 6:3-4; Acts 22:16). We urge all to reject Him
no longer, but accept His care today!
