Where
In The Bible Will I Find:
Christ,
The First Born Of All Creation?
It is falsely taught by some religious groups
that our Lord was a “creative being,” that He was the first creature of
a series in God's creation. No teaching further from the truth could be taught
than this.
The apostle John clearly teaches, "In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and
without him was not anything made that was made" (John 1:1-3).
No plainer language is revealed anywhere than this. “And the Word was made
flesh, and dwelt among us...” (John 1:14). Jesus the Christ was the WORD.
He existed before the heavens or the earth was created, and they were created
by Him and for Him. There can be no doubt as to the distinct existence of Jesus
as the Word before the world was. He was with the Father from the beginning, He
was there when the creative process began, He was the creator of all things, He
did not begin with the beginning, He could not have created Himself.
Paul said, "He made the worlds"
(Heb. 1:2). He was "before all things" and in Him "were
all things created" (Col. 1:16, 17). He is the second person in the
godhead. The word "God" is plural in form, thus suggesting
more than one personality in the godhead. God is the divine nature. There are
three persons that make up the godhead, God the Father, God the Son, and God
the Holy Spirit. All three were in the beginning, "Let us (the
Father and Son and the Holy Spirit) make man in our image" (Gen.
1:26). The pronouns "us" and "our" signifies the presence
of all three in the creation.
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the “firstborn of
all creation,” not that He, Himself was created, but because He ranks above
all creation - a position He would not hold were He merely a created
being. He is "the beginning" not because He began, but because
He caused all else of creation to begin! He is the originator of all things. He
is called "Beginning" because He began all things. He came to
the earth, took upon Himself the form of man - was tempted in all things
as a man, yet was without sin, suffered a shameful death on a cruel cross but
was raised in victory over the devil and reigns today Lord of lords, King of
kings over His kingdom, His church, of which He is head (Col. 1:18).
The church is His body (Col. 1:24); there is but
one such body (Eph. 4:5, 6), where all spiritual blessings are enjoyed (Eph.
1:3). He is coming again, not as our Savior but as our Judge (2 Thess. 5:10).
NOT to set up a kingdom but to deliver up His kingdom to the Father (1 Cor.
15:24). "And, behold I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give
every man according as his work shall be" (Rev. 22:12) . “…when the
Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming
fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel
of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction...
" (2 Thess. 1:7-9).
