Where In The Bible Will I
Find:
Sins Not Repented Of That Will Condemn One’s Soul?
Many of us may category sins as either being large
sins, or small sins. The Bible speaks of all unrighteousness as sin. There are
sins that are classified as sins against God; sins against man and sins against
our bodies, but whatever is not of faith is sin (Rom. 14:23), and this sin is
against God whether or not we have classified large or small, God will still
hold us accountable for it, and if we do not repent of it then it could be the
sin that would condemn our Soul to hell.
God does not classify sin as large or small. To Him,
sin is sin, and every sin not repented of at the time of death will follow us
to the judgment. Sins that some have classified as "little sins" are cursing,
taking the Lord's name in vain. "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of
your mouth, but such as is good for edifying..." (Eph. 4:29). It is
often considered fashionable and "tough" for young people to use
course language, but such is never proper for Christians. Foul language actually reflects upon one's
training, manners and intelligence.
One's limited vocabulary leads
him to utter foul words to express himself. We have been charged to: Put away
shameful speaking out of our mouth (Col. 3:8), and, "...for the LORD
will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain" (Deut.
5:11). We must not sin by using unclean and impure speech. "But
fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named
among you, as becometh saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking nor
jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks" (Eph.
5:3-4).
Some may never breath a "cuss-word,"
but then tell off-color stories or suggestive jokes that are equally
condemned. The content and implication must be decent as well as the specific
words.
Lying is sinful, whether we classify it a big lie or
a little lie. Paul says, "Lie not one to another..." (Col.
3:9) and John informs us that all liars will have their part in the lake of
fire (Rev. 21:8).
Those bearing false witness against anyone, will not
go unpunished (Prov. 19:9). Swearing and murmuring are sins. We are to let our “yea
be yea,” and our “nay be nay” (James 5:12). Paul warns us, “Neither
murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the
destroyer... Do all things without murmurings and disputings” (I Cor.
10:10; Phil. 2:14).
We must pray to God each day for forgiveness of
those sins which we may commit unknowingly and if there is anything in our life
that we do not want to follow us to the judgment then we must repent of it and
ask God for forgiveness, for ANY SIN NOT
REPENTED OF at death, will condemn our soul.
