Where In The Bible Will I Find:
Salvation?
Salvation of our soul
is, or should be, the greatest thing in our life. After all, our soul will
never die. There is only one of two places where our soul will live eternally,
heaven or hell. The way we live our life while here on earth determines where
our soul will live eternally. There will be no second chance. When we die our
soul goes direct to the hadean world, a place prepared by God where the soul
awaits the judgment (Luke 16:19-31). "And as it is appointed unto
men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Heb. 9:27).
When Jesus left this
earth He went back to heaven to prepare a place for His people (John 14:1-3),
but before He left He taught His disciples to "...Go ye into all the
world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is
baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned"
(Mark 16:15-16). He did not leave without showing them (and us) the way
in which we must prepare ourselves for His return. His return will be a
glorious day for those who are prepared but to those who are not prepared, the
apostle Paul warns, "And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the
Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming
fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel
of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction
from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power" (II
Thess. 1:7-9).
There is a form, a
pattern, a Gospel plan of salvation, that was taught by Jesus and His disciples
which has been left for us to go by in order that we may be prepared when He
comes or when we stand before Him in judgment "For we must all appear
before the judgment seat of Christ..." (II Cor. 5:10). This plan
consists of hearing the Word of God, "Teaching them to
observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you..." (Matt. 28:20). Believing
the Word of God, "...for it is the power of God unto salvation to every
one that believeth..." (Rom. 1:16). Hearing His Word produces faith, "So
then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Rom.
10:17). "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that
cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently
seek him" (Heb. 11:6). Repenting of all sins, "...except ye
repent, ye shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3). Confess that Jesus
is the Son of God (Acts 8:37); "For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation"
(Rom. 10:10). Buried with Christ by being immersed in water for the remission
of sins, "...be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ
for the remission of sins ... arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy
sins,.." (Acts 2:38; 22:16). This obedience to God's Word puts us IN
Christ (Gal. 3:27), then, we must live a faithful Christian life (Rev. 2:10).
