Where In The Bible Will I
Find:
Saved By The Blood Of
Christ?
We
read many verses in the New Testament about the saving power of the blood of
Jesus. There has never been a question on whether or not the blood of Christ
saves; this is how we are saved, by the blood of Jesus. But HOW and WHEN does
it save.
All
Bible believers know that Jesus shed His blood on the cross for the whole
world, but the whole world will not be saved, because many will not believe on,
or obey Christ and will be lost in their sins, " …if ye believe not
that I am he, ye shall die in your sins" (John 8:24). Therefore, for
those wanting to be saved, He has told them what they must do. He shed His
blood in death and as it is His blood that will save us, we must come in
contact with His blood in order for it to be effective.
It’s
like, if you went to your doctor with an ailment and the doctor says,
"Without the proper medicine you will die." He tells you there is a
medicine that is a known cure for it and that you must take it in order to
live. You get the medicine, take it home and set it on the table. You lay in
bed waiting for the cure to come, but will it come? Not as long as the medicine
is setting in the table.
You
have to take the medicine - you have to take it according to the prescription
before it would be effective, it could sit on the table, without partaking of
it according to the prescription, we will die. The prescription is plainly,
written, and in order for it to be effective we must follow directions. And we
must partake of it ourselves - no one else can do it for us - not
our parents - not our children - not the pastor, or friends.
Each
of us is responsible for our own soul. We, alone, must answer for our own sins.
If we follow the directions, Christ will save us from our sins and we shall
live. Christ Himself, and the Holy Spirit, through His apostles have given the
directions (the Gospel plan of salvation, or plan of redemption). Rejecting
these directions will bring damnation to our soul. Obeying these directions will
bring eternal life with God in Heaven.
Christ
shed His blood in death, we are buried with Him in our death when we submit to
water baptism (Rom. 6:3-5), and this is HOW we come in contact with His
blood - this is also, WHEN the blood of Christ saves - puts us IN
Christ, "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put
on Christ" (Gal. 3:27).
The
blood of Christ cleans us from all sin (I John 1:7), it washes away our sins, "...arise,
and be baptized, and wash away thy sins... " (Acts 22:16). Before
water baptism, we are still IN our sins - we have not taken our medicine.
The blood of Christ is there, waiting for us to partake.
