Where In The Bible Will I
Find:
By Your Words?
The
Bible discusses at length the power of words - both for good and for
evil. Solomon gives many examples of how the tongue can destroy and how it can
bless. "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up
anger" (Prov. 15:1). "A man hath joy by the answer of his
mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it" (Prov. 15:23).
Our
Lord warned about the danger of misusing our tongues and then added: "For
by your words thou shalt be justified, and by your words thou shalt be
condemned" (Matt. 12:37). God has wonderfully blessed human beings by
enabling us to communicate with words, but we must be careful what words we use
and how we use them. Liberal theology has taken perfectly good Biblical words
and prostituted them for its unholy agenda.
For
example, "inspiration" is a translation of the Greek
"theopneustos" which means "God-breathed" (II Tim.
3:16). Liberals deny the divine inspiration of the Bible, but still retain the
word inspiration. By the word "inspiration," they usually mean
that writing has great power and beauty, but the words of Scripture are not the
words of God.
Liberals
may also apply the word "inspiration" to the works of
Shakespeare, Milton, and Tennyson. For liberals, "resurrection"
means that the spirit of Jesus is still alive in the hearts and minds of His
followers. They say there was no bodily resurrection, but there is a revival of
our Lord's goodness, graciousness and love. The socalled
"prochoice" movement has abused perfectly good words. The word
"prochoice" itself is one of them. Everybody is prochoice in some
areas, but prochoice in modern times means "pro-death."
Legally, a mother has the choice of killing her baby, but
the baby is not given a choice. The abortion supporters seldom speak of babies -
especially babies still in their mother's bodies. They use expressions, such
as, "products of conception," "an acorn is not an oak
tree," "mass of protoplasm," "interrupting a
pregnancy," etc.
Everybody
- including proabortion supporters - know they mean killing babies,
but they religiously refrain from such simple, straightforward English.
Attempts to deceive people by changing the meaning of words show that hearts
are not right. "...for out of the abundance of the heart the month
speaketh" (Matt. 12:34).
Breaking
the barometer will not prevent the storm from coming; neither will their
changing the meaning of words prevent the judgment of God: "He that
rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word
that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day" (John
12:48).
